Is there a real astrologer on staff?

I've loved your site for many years, but this year I've noticed that the horoscopes are repeating. Is there a real astrologer on staff or have you moved more towards entertainment?

Thank you for writing. There is a real astrologer on staff, that's me :-). I do cast charts for the horoscopes. But after 4-5 years of writing horoscopes I find that the same patterns repeat themselves, and it is hard to come up with new ways of saying the same thing, and it takes a huge amount of time to write horoscopes on a daily basis. I have created a program that links up the day's energy pattern for the Moon together with interpretations written over the past few years, and it creates a database of horoscopes that pulls the right interpretation for that day's energy. I periodically add new interpretations to those files as time permits. It is rare that a horoscope repeats for the same sun-sign (about once every 2-3 years per sign, and then rarely in the same sign), and if you are seeing more than that, please let me know as there could be some error with my database.

Where it comes to horoscopes though, frankly ALL horoscopes are entertainment, I have never viewed them as more than that and have always encouraged our readers to do so as well. See: http://tinyurl.com/bjsunsigns.

Horoscopes are fun and entertaining, people enjoy them, but I expect no one to take them seriously, mine or anyone else's. Serious astrology is far more detailed and in-depth and while horoscopes do help fund Astrology.ca, Adsense is not bringing in a huge amount of money, and I have found most readers aren't interested in purchasing things from the site. So my payoff is really the enjoyment I get from producing the content. Automating the delivery has freed up a huge amount of time for me to redesign the site, and to bring in fresh new content and services to this and my other sites. I hope people enjoy the horoscopes, and that will bring people in to learn more about astrology for themselves. In the next while, as the new site continues to build, I hope to bring in more tutorials and lessons to help readers cast and read their own charts in detail.

Astrology Overview February 2007

This month starts off with some encouraging aspects that relate to healthcare, medicine, and alternative healing. There could be a research breakthrough or the publication of a major new concept that will bring about healing for large numbers of people. This could involve new drugs, herbs or medical treatments, perhaps more than one new idea that leads to positive changes for humanity.

People will come across as restless, hyperactive and dynamic this month. Of course, February is traditionally associated with lovers and Valentines, but the libido of the world is taking a massive jolt of energy, and not everyone will be ready for it. It will be like everyone has ants in their pants. It is sort of like the energy just before a big explosion, everyone can feel it coming, but nobody knows where it is going.

Big political changes are coming on the world stage. There may be a partnership between two important countries to work together for the common good, but the challenge is there are contradictory energies that will keep our leadership as confused and befuddled as the populace, especially at the beginning of the month. To top it off, the full Moon in Leo will have everyone working from rather ego-based emotional motivation. People in positions of authority would do well to check their motivation during high-pressure moments this month. Mistakes will be made when the higher good is not factored into decision-making, and there could be more than one "fall from grace" as a result of poor judgment. Slow things down, take things easy, or you may find yourself making more than one course-correction this month. Don’t fall prey to the temptation to play the "blame game". It will be incredibly easy to project our shortcomings and mistakes onto others, and that could lead to trouble in the long run. Taking personal responsibility is the key to growth and self-confidence right now.

Near the middle to the end of the month, expect a spike in technology news and breakthroughs. There will be some kind of life-altering innovation that dramatically and permanently changes our lives for the better. This may not be a smooth and easy transition for us all, however, there are indications of a backlash to change coming from those who yearn for the not so good "good old days".

If you are looking for comfort this contradictory and contrary month, find something small and fuzzy to take care of. Our furry friends need us as much as we need them, and right now there are likely to be many abandoned or needy pets needing a helping hand. A nice gesture for the month would be to make a donation of food or litter to your local pet shelter.

Astrology Overview January 2007

We have a highly emotional Full Moon early this month, which in some ways sets the tone for the New Year. Expect a lot of news about housing, real estate, and family issues. While there have been a lot of challenges the past year, this could be an opportune time to look into buying or selling homes and properties. Unexpected changes in housing conditions could bring lucky breaks for those who are prepared to move quickly. There may be secret governmental plans underway that will come to light to bring tax or financial breaks to home owners and investors.

There may be a breakthrough in the global war against terrorism, some form of structural revision that brings hope and new energy to those with loved ones in the military. It’s not like global peace is necessarily breaking out all over the place (though one could hope for that), but there are some positive signs.

This could be an excellent month for a psychic reading with the Angel Ladies, for taking self-improvement classes, attending enlightening seminars, or for starting a new self-improvement program. The key is to accept your emotional state, which may be botth confusing and exciting. Every now and then stop whatever you are doing, take a deep breath, and ask yourself "How am I feeling right now?" You may be surprised at the emotions that come up. You may find unique and innovative ways of expressing yourself if you spend some extra time to write down and examine those feelings and any intuitive insights you receive right now.

The middle to the end of the month, the energies start to get incredibly intense in the sign of Aquarius. The Moon, Mercury, Chiron, Neptune and Venus line up near the New Moon. The next day, the Sun enters Aquarius. Air signs (Libra, Gemini, Aquarius) will generally benefit from this cosmic traffic jam, but Taurus, Leo and Scorpio Sun Signs may find it challenging. Aries and Sagittarius will benefit from unusual opportunities and insights around the 19th or 20th of January. All signs will find themselves somewhat overloaded with mental stimulation. Expect to hear news of incredible new technological breakthroughs, particularly those relating to new or alternative healing, healthcare, medicines, music and the arts.
